The 319 is safe

Further to this, this my letter on the 319 bus service going out to houses this weekend.  Nuff said.

 Dear resident

 319 Service Update

I am writing with an update on the 319 (St Helens-Southport) service which passes through Barrow Nook, past Stockley Crescent and along Liverpool Road.

First, thanks to the dozens of people who have signed up to the template letters to Stagecoach requesting that the 319 service be maintained.  I have been really very impressed by the number of people that have told me that they are happy to support the campaign even though they do not use the service themselves.

Second, there is the good news that this letter-writing campaign has now effectively been superseded.

After behind the scenes negotiations, it has been agreed that Fairway Travel will take over this 319 route, and run it alongside the 319 route they began last year passing through Bickerstaffe along the Rainford Bypass.

There will be no changes to the timetable, and the transfer of operator will take place on 06 April.

Fairway Travel have, however, confirmed that they are interested in making the service hourly overall, with the Barrow Nook/Stockley Crescent service every two hours and the Bypass service every two hours.  The Bypass service also currently runs on Sundays, and it is therefore possible that Barrow Nook/Stockley Crescent might also in time enjoy a Sunday service.  This will be a huge improvement to the service if it transpires, and I will keep you informed.
