Family Services Centre – development update

Thanks to all those readers who expressed sympathy, and a not a little shock, at the news of West Lancashire District Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the nursery on the school site. A common comment has been about the inconsistency of the authority on planning issues. So we see developments at XL Business Park and Simonswood get ‘the nod’, sometimes AFTER the building work has been carried out, and planning conditions about noise and lighting are then ignored with impunity.

Then a small educational building, on an educational site, is turned down because the Council thinks a service serving rural people would be better placed in a town!

But we don’t give up that easily. Bickerstaffe Children’s Services has now secured a grant to employ specialist greenbelt planning consultants to prepare new plans and develop a fresh planning case. It is hoped plans will go in soon, and that the delay to the services that local people want and need will be limited. For the time being we ask for your patience and are sure you’ll understand we are doing what we can to resolve this situation.
