Tory promise vs Tawd River reality (4): Orange Tory sludge

And so to stage 4 of the photo essay:

Tory Promise 4, email 26th January 2011:

4) In relation to your query about the orange sludge, it is, as you anticipated, Iron Oxide and is part of the ‘washings’ coming out of the old coal mines in that area. Unfortunately we don’t have the ability to prevent it appearing, but what our Rangers do is try to ensure that its flow is diverted away from the main paths – but this will mean pools of rusty sludge will form in other parts of the park and which will be accessible, by kids, dogs, or whoever. However, I am assured that it isn’t poisonous or toxic in any way.
