‘Community confusions’ – intelligent bloggery

06.27.08 | Comment?

I feel the not-so-sudden urge to give this blog ‘Community Confusions’ a little plug.  It’s by Andy Gregg, boss at the London Advice Services Alliance.  I met Andy a few months ago and he is very clever and committed.  He also bought me a beer, or it might have been two.

Much of the argument he puts forward I find persuasive, though I’ve commented on how I find that, taken to one logical extreme, the argument develops into the negation of the validity of all strategic alliance. I’m sure he wouldn’t advocate this in itself, and would argue that I’m not getting his argument right.

But I can’t help wondering…..Is this all just a reflection of how those who stuck with Labour as the best way forward (like me),  think differently from those who left it (like Andy) and now critique it from outside?

I’m trying not to make value judgments here – I know lots of people who’ve left Labour for inellectual reasons which I may disagree with but respect for having been thought through.  That’s lots better than leaving Labour because we’re temporarily unpopular.   Andy’s in the former lot, and I tip my metaphoric hat to him for raising some important stuff in his blog.
