Being Labour, The world beyond West Lancashire

Labour wins Norfolk from Tories in dramatic trend bucking election vote swingometer move

07.27.08 | Comment?

A bloggery hat tip to our new NEC man Peter Kenyon for flagging up this Labour election victory against the Tories.

Alright,  it wasn’t the whole of Norfolk, more a Town Council seat in Thetford, but Terry’s victory does show, as Peter suggests, that good local work can keep on winning (note the press even uses Terry’s first name, so he must be popular).   And of course, given the current bye-election downers, it’s worth noting that at parliamentary level as well voters do take into account what the MP’s been up to locally – not an unimportant part of their job!  Good local Labour MP’s will get re-elected because they’ve done their job well.

We had a ‘surprise’ result for Labour in West Lancashire a bit like Terry’s back in 2007, if I can just remember which one it was……..ah yes, here it is.
